Blood Red Skies German Ace Pilot Walter Nowotny

In October 1943, Walter Nowotny became the first pilot to reach 250 aerial victories. Early in 1943 Nowotny had converted from the Bf 109 to the F2 190 and his already impressive success rate soared. In September 1944 Nowotny was made commander of a new unit to develop tactics for the futurist Me 262 jet fighter. Nowotny achieved just three victories in the Me 262 before falling to P-51D Mustangs three months later.
