The origin of Bitter Melon (Momordica Charantia) is the tropics of Asia. It is grown worldwide in regions with warm climates, mainly in South and Southeast Asia, China and the Caribbean. Momordica Charantia is a monoecious liana growing up to 4 m in length. The stems are pentahedral with longitudinal grooves and simple antennae. The leaves have a flattened kidney-shaped or rounded shape. The flowers of Bitter Melon are unisexual, located one by one in the axils of the leaves. The stalks are long. At the beginning the fruits are green in color, when ripen they turn bright yellow or orange.
