Official Cover commemorating the inauguration of Barack Obama as 44th President of the United States. The Cover features the official U.S. Postal Service inaugural postmark of January 20, 2009. The Cover comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. When he was sworn into office on January 20, 2009, Obama became the first African-American President. Obama overwhelmingly won the historic 2008 Presidential election. His inauguration took place on the steps of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. This Cover was created as a keepsake that will be treasured for generations to come. The George Washington Presidential Dollar symbolizes the first President and the unbroken chain of Presidents from Washington over 200 years ago to Obama in 2009. The coin was issued for a few weeks only in 2007 and is no longer available from the U.S. Mint. The coin is colorized with an image of Barack Obama. The 1 cent George Washington stamp was issued on August 26, 1954, as part of the Liberty issue. Also included is the 42 cent American Flag stamp that was issued on April 18, 2008. The postmark certifies the Cover as a genuine limited edition. Only a limited number of Covers received the inaugural postmark, and no more can ever be created. Millions were in D.C. for the inauguration and hundreds of millions watched on TV around the world, but only a tiny fraction can ever own this historic keepsake. The card that accompanies the Cover includes historical details about Obama and the inauguration.
