Growing up his family moved house quite often, staying in and around north west London where Jon began his martial arts training. When he was age 15 he joined the circus where he performed as a martial artist and acrobat. He later incorporated his skills into a variety of different shows with much success, and began his move towards work in film. In his early twenties Jon moved to Hong Kong where he worked with Jackie Chan and many of the top performers in action cinema, including the world renowned action choreographer Yuen Woo Ping.
