Ascension founder, Russell Hayward, is a licensed Q Grader through the Coffee Quality Institute. He travels the world to score, judge, and buy some of the best 100% Arabica coffee available for Ascension coffee aficionados.
Coffee is graded like wine and Ascension coffees are all scored 84 points and above on the specialty coffee scale. FYI, that's a very good thing! All the coffee we serve scores in the top 3% of coffee worldwide, while our Cup of Excellence Coffees score in the Top 1%.
Russell Hayward personally travels to Ascension coffee-producing regions such as Brazil, Guatemala, India, Rwanda, Kenya, Nepal, South Sudan, and more to visit and help educate coffee farmers on improving coffee quality and operating more efficiently.
