A container with a large surface area helps mint to grow abundantly. Mints grown in five to six hours of sun develop better color and flavor. In hot summer areas, late afternoon shade helps to cut down on the watering chores. They are hardy to zone 5 and will die back to the ground in winter. Cut Apple Mint to the ground in late fall and it will be fresh and crisp in spring. It may need to be divided in the spring. When the mint stops producing heavily, it is time to thin out the roots. Before you place the order, please note that seed germination is controlled by environmental factors such as light, moisture, temperature and time of seed dry storage as well as by genetic factors. Sometimes grower's patience plays a role in it. So is grower's diligence to fight with the garden critters. We are bee keepers, the blossoms are bee-kissed at some point of time, cross pollinated is possible. We have volunteering seedlings pop out everywhere outdoor in the right time in Northern California so we know the seeds are very fertile. Starting plants from seeds is not suitable for everyone, please consider all these factors before you place the order!
