The Areca palm is a native of Madagascar and is also known as a butterfly palm for its feathery arching fronds that can contain up to 100 leaflets. The Areca is one of the most popular and beneficial palms for interior decorating in homes and offices. It is often used for weddings and events for its beautiful green and yellow foliage and arching fronds. It is a very easy care palm that needs water about once a week, thrives is bright indoor light, and can live for many years and grow up to 8 feet or more indoors with proper care. The Areca is also a fantastic screening palm and is commonly grown outdoors in hardiness zones that do not get less than 36 degrees Fahrenheit. They can reach mature height up to 30' tall and 15-20' wide. Shipping and handling can be very tough on live plants so please be sure to open and check your plant right away. Mist the foliage and check the soil for moisture. Our plant team gives each plant a drink before they are individually shipped and wrapped so they may not need to be watered right away.
