Made of acrylic so as to not interfere with the magnets, the Steric Demonstrator features a series of 6 acrylic panes, with end caps on either end. Each pane has a series of small compass needles mounted onto it, which are capable of spinning about freely in a circle around their attachment point.
One of the panes is able to be removed, so that one of the two magnets can be placed in the middle of the demonstrator, and then replaced, locking the magnet in place. The needles will then all turn, based on the magnetic lines of force that are affecting them. There is an extra pane included, so that allowing both the bar magnet and u-shaped magnet to have their own.
It includes one ceramic bar magnet (79.9x19.5x19.5mm) and a ceramic horseshoe, or u-shaped, magnet (84.1x15.5x22.5). The demonstrator itself measures 8.25 inches in height, and has a diameter of 7.75 inches.
