ARTISAN STORY: Artisan Jewelena is from Cha-am, Thailand, which is a beach town located south of Bangkok on the Gulf of Thailand. At a young age, she learned the craft of metal-working from her father who was a renowned silver craftsman. When she got older, she decided to follow the traditions passed on by her family and opened a small store in Bangkok. Through hard work and with the help of her husband and children, she has become quite successful. “It is very important to me to pass on the art of silver-crafting which I learned from my father. He was a large influence on me and I work hard to honor him. It makes me feel great satisfaction to create beautiful works and that other people appreciate my art. I am a very blessed person that I can pass on my skill to my children and grandchildren so that the traditional craft will live on”
