This is especially useful when you have multiple shields that are not suited for stacking together such as an OLED shield with sensor/relay shields, or where a lower profile is preferred. In addition, the design includes eight mounting holes for securing it in place, something lacking on the actual WeMos D1 Mini boards and shields.
