This breakout board provides a convenient way to start using he fantastic TCS3200/TCS230, a sensor that measures color in light with the help of an 8×8 array of photodiodes. The photodiodes have three different color filters. 16 of them have red filters, another 16 have green filters, another 16 have blue filters and the other 16 photodiodes are clear with no filters. After the photodiodes measure the light levels through the filters, a current-to-frequency converter built into the sensor transforms the photodiodes’ readings into a square wave with a frequency that is proportional to the light intensity. As the light is filtered, the readings yield the amount of color in the light perceived by the sensor. Using microcontrollers such as Arduinos, ESP8266, ESP32 or single-board computers like Raspberry Pi, we can then read the frequencies using any digital input. Then it's a matter of scaling the measurements (calibration) to be relative to what the users consider a 'pure' red, blue, and green. Features: Operating Voltage: 2.7V to 5.5V Size: 28.4×28.4mm (1.12×1.12") Pinout (8-pins) used for reading Output (OUT), choosing Output Frequency by color (S2, S3), setting Output scale (S0, S1), and turning on the onboard LEDs (LED) Control Interface: digital TTL For useful guides to get you started with the TCS3200/TCS230, please visit: https://youtube.com/acrobotic
