This breakout board (3x included in this listing) provides a convenient way to start using the popular photosensitive resistors, photoresistor, or light-dependant resistor (LDR) for detecting changes in light levels. The LDR sensors are typically sold as a through-hole component for use on a breadboard, protoboard, or for being part of your custom PCB design. This board makes it easy, however, to use it for both prototyping and permanent wiring to your project. Using this module prevents from the component being disconnected, and avoids having to solder it into the application. The board also includes the necessary, fixed resistors needed to properly measure the analog voltages produced by the photosensitive resistor onboard.
An LDR works by way of its chemical composition (Cadmium Sulfide, CdS), which reacts to changes in light is with a proportional change in its internal resistance (from 5~10K? [bright] up to 200K? [dark]). The board includes a potentiometer so that you can adjust the voltage divider circuit, and tune its sensitivity to the voltage range you're using.
Features:
Power Supply: 3.3~5VDC (typical)
This breakout PCB facilitates using a photoresistor, specially on solderless breadboards!
Sturdy (1.6mm), blue PCB with a 4-pin header on on side (VCC, GND, Analog Out, and Digital Out)
4-Pin header included (pre-soldered)
