It has a 4:1 gear ratio with forward and reverse ratcheting and single speed. The lock can be set to work in either direction or can be disengaged if required (not recommended). While changing ratchet direction, hold the manual boat winch handle to take the load/strain off the ratchet mechanism and ensure safety. Each component of the boat hand winch is constructed of high carbon steel with a zinc-plated finish for maximum strength and longevity that resists rust and corrosion.
