A Reason For Science offers helpful and insightful science practice workbooks for kids of all ages. The aim of our kids workbooks is to build an effective science learning foundation while also having fun. A Reason For Science Student Workbook Level B, 2nd Grade is packed with 36 total lessons. Lessons 1-9 cover Life Science, Lessons 10-18 cover Earth Science and Lessons 19-36 cover Physical Science. The different concepts covered are classification, environments, weather, changes in matter, spatial relationships, and more. Each lesson in our 2nd grade books includes 5 days. Day 1 in our grade 2 workbook focuses on the "Engage" aspect. Students observe, describe, and discuss what they see in the lesson. Day 2 in our grade 2 workbooks focuses on “inform” and this includes content to be read aloud by the student and/or instructor. Day 3 focuses on “Expand” and this is where students conduct an experiment to reinforce concepts learned in the previous two days. Day 4 focuses on “expand” and this is where students review the results of the hands-on activity and answer higher-level cognitive questions (explain, compare, predict) about the scientific principles they have learned. On the final day the student “asses” the experiment and completes a brief quiz to demonstrate mastery of the concepts and help aid long-term retention.
