The desert rose (Adenium obesum) is a slow-growing plant, only growing about 12 inches per year. It is often used as a bonsai plant thanks to its thick succulent trunk, thin and delicate leaves, and luscious, deep pink trumpeting flowers. It is native to Africa, the Middle East, and Madagascar. How to Grow desert rose GERMINATION?The best time to sow desert rose seeds is in the spring. Get a well-draining potting mix with perlite or use a sand and soil mix. You can soak the seeds in advance for several hours or up to a day to rehydrate them, then place one seed every two inches onto the growing medium. Cover lightly with a thin layer of soil mix. Water thoroughly and keep the plants in a warm location. Only water the soil once it begins to dry out. You can also mist the soil or water the container from below, but do not allow the soil to becme waterlogged. Once seedlings sprout, usually in seven to ten days, move the container to a sunny spot. CARE: Water when the soil becomes dry, and a little more frequently during hotter months, over watering can cause wet feet. Leaves drop during winter when the plant is dormant, this is perfectly normal!. Your plant will be bursting with life again in no time. Feed with liquid fertiliser for best results.
