Mad Cow Cutlery brand blade guards were designed to protect your knive's edge during storage, and reduce accidental cuts when reaching for a knife in your case or drawer. The guards are constructed of the thickest polymer we could source, that would still be flexible enough to open and fit a blade. What this means is longer life and a tighter fit on your blade. We lined the guards with a commercial grade material that is similar to felt, but much more durable. This allows the blade to slide in easier, and protects the blade from scratches. We textured the outside of the guards to make them easier to grip, especially with wet hands. Unlike other brands, we manufacture our guards to be slightly wider in some of the models to allow for better coverage, especially for curved blade knives. We also were the first to introduce a 12" long, wide blade guard for the larger chef knives and butcher knives, especially the popular cimeter. Our guards are also made slightly longer than other guards, so some of our guards have an extra 1/2" length, to make them more versatile.
