The sensor turns the candle light on at dusk, or when it senses darkness. Timer function is now activated. Timer will turn candle off 8 hours later, or sensor will turn candle off if light is sensed before 8 hours. Each candle operates on 3 AA batteries (not included). 70 day battery life. Batteries are installed in the base of the unit, providing stability from tipping off your windowsill.
