They are great at removing toxic chemicals (e.g. ammonia, heavy metals, etc.) and its roots add a wonderful natural look to your aquarium. We operate in a snail and duckweed free environment, though we do utilize beneficial freshwater scuds. BONUS: You will get 1-2 heads of another type of aquatic plant we think you will like.
