Product Description 3M Hookit Gold Film Disc 255L features aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a film backing for a fast cut-rate and uniform, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications. Our flexible film backing provides a consistent finish and greater tear-resistance than a comparable paper product, making it well-suited for a high-production environment. From the Manufacturer The 3M™ Hookit™ Gold Film Dust-Free Disc 255L features aluminum oxide abrasive grain on a film backing and provides dust control with a 5-hole pattern when used with a vacuum and a dust-free backup pad. It produces a fast cut-rate and uniform, close-tolerance finish on wood, paint prep, and defect repair applications where dust is an issue. The flexible film backing provides a consistent finish and greater tear-resistance than a comparable paper product, making it well-suited for a high-production environment. For repeated use, the Hookit hook-and-loop attachment works well by enabling easy re-use when switching between grades before the discs are worn out. The open coat feature provides a more aggressive cut than a comparable closed coat abrasive of the same grade, and the disc’s load-resistant coating reduces clogging of the disc, making this a good choice for woodworking and other applications where loading hinders performance. Designed for use with a random orbital sander, this disc comes in a range of grades for fine sanding and finishing, and is resin-bonded for reliable performance under high heat and pressure. Coated abrasive discs cut better and last longer when dust isn’t loading the cutting surface of the abrasives. The 5-hole pattern dust-management system uses a series of evenly-spaced holes in the abrasive that are aligned with the holes in the disc pad. Suction via a vacuum system is drawn through the holes to help collect dust from the air and workpiece, for improved working conditions and disc performance. For maximum dust extraction, use this disc with a Hookit dust-free backup pad and a random orbital sander with vacuum (both sold separately). Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are placed with space between them to help evacuate sawdust and other sanding debris and avoid clogging the cutting edge of the grains. The load-resistant coating also allows the disc to continue cutting even when sanding softwoods, paints,
