Coffees from Atitlán in Guatemala are among the more sought-after in all of Central America. Reputable for high elevations and optimal climate, Atitlán coffees are complex and nuanced with a deep chocolate body, stunning fruit acidity and hints of berry. Our organic certified Guatemalan coffee is farmed by the 160 small-holder farmers of the La Voz co-operative in Atitlán. Of the five volcanic coffee regions of Guatemala, Atitlán's soil is the richest in organic matter. 90% of Atitlán coffee is cultivated along the slopes of the dramatic volcanoes that dominate the shores of Lake Atitlán. The daily winds (called Xocomil) that stir the cold lake waters are an important influence on the microclimate.
