This organic Supremo coffee is an SHG EP which is the highest grade a specialty Colombian coffee can receive. SHG (Strictly High Grown) specifies that the coffee was grown at an altitude above 1350 meters. This term is also synonymous with SHB (Strictly Hard Bean). EP (European Preparation) specifies that the raw beans are all hand sorted to remove any defective beans and foreign material. ROAST PROFILE: This Organic Colombian Narino has a big aroma of sweet brown sugar folded in with dried fruit and molasses notes. A City to Full City roast extracts a vibrant citrus impression with dark berry and cherry top-notes, along with a toffee-layered chocolate body. This well balanced Colombian brews a relatively clean cup that comes together like black tea with lemon juice. Fruit notes take center stage as the coffee cools off. COFFEE PROFILE The high altitude Narino region is know to produce "The Queen of Colombia coffees". Unlike the classic Supremo, this Narino Supremo coffee displays a bold citrus acidity, silky, juicy body and a rich toffee finish. Big consistent sized beans are easy to roast with good audible cracks and sweet roasting aroma. This premium organic Colombian coffee is farmed on the 5-hectare Munoz Estate in Narino, a small village nestled between the Amazon basin and the Andes Mountain Range. Coffee grows at high elevations where warm tropical days and cool nights let the beans develop slowly. The mountain area gets more than 70 inches of rain per year and plenty of sunshine. The region’s volcanic soil has a high percentage of organic material. For us, the heart of Colombian coffee sits in the mountains of Narino.
