When to harvest sunflower seeds:
Harvesting cherry sunflower seeds is easy with few steps. Your sunflowers will be bloomed for about 4 weeks before beginning to die back. Once the flowers have begun to die, you can harvest the seeds to eat or propagate new sunflowers for the next year. Just scoop the seeds from the bloom and preserve in a cool dry place.
How to Grow:
TO PLANT OUTDOORS
Plant in full sun in well-drained soil under warm weather and all danger of frost is past. Sow seeds into soil 1/2 inch deep and 24 inches apart. Cover and press soil over seeds firmly, keep it moist until the seeds is germinated in 8 to 10 days.
TO START EARLY INDOORS
Few weeks before the chance of last frost, sow seeds 1/2 inch deep in well-drained individual pots. Keep soil moist and supply a strong light until it's ready to be planted outside. Please note that the seed is only acceptable night temperatures 50-55°F (10-13°C). Transplant them into the garden carefully in full sun, avoid disturbing the roots as much as possible.
GROWING TIPS
Keep soil moist and often weeding. In addition, you should protect seedlings from hungry birds by netting or plastic baskets, removing the net before plants get crowded.
