Rock Cress plants are covered in stunning spring flowers. Rock Cress is a superb perennial ground cover for dry banks, between flagstones, or along pathways.These perennials which produce stunning masses of flowers in spring. Superb on dry banks, walls and rock gardens or use between patio flagstones. Grows 3-6 inches high and spreads 1-1.5 feet across. They are outstanding performers. Cut back halfway after blooming. Prefers part shade in hot climates, full sun where summers are relatively cool. Winter hardy to zone 4. Grow Instructions Sow seeds in a well drained mix such as ProMix, and keep moist but not too wet. Can direct sow in fall for germination with spring rains. Soil temperature should be kept higher than 10°C / 50°F to ensure good germination. Water seedlings regularly for healthier growth – Let mature plants slightly dry out. Needs little care once established. A layer of light gravel may help keep the soil well drained. Too much moisture, humidity, or heat will damage the plant. These plants will bloom in their second season when grown from seed. After the plants finish flowering, prune them to half their size for new growth. Avoid pruning them in late fall or spring, as this can prevent blooming. Mature plants can be divided after 2-3 years of growth.
