My favorite wildflower, and the best butterfly attractor around. Adds a great touch to flower beds due to the long-lasting flowers and bold greenery. One of the most common native wildflowers here in Ohio. Grows 2'-5' tall. Perennial Open-Pollinated Full Sun to Light Shade Direct Seeding Sow outdoors when light frosts are still common (I start in early April). Expect germination in 15-19 days due to relatively cold temperatures. Indoors Sow seeds as early as possible in any seed-starting mix. I generally start a few flats when I start my tomatoes in late March. No real care is needed other than light watering. Don't bother to fertilize these hardy perennials as you are wasting your money. Prefers a sandy, well-drained soil but will grow virtually anywhere.
