2005 West Virginia University Football Highlights: Sweet as Sugar

The 2005 West Virginia Mountaineers had something only a handful of teams find. A lot of teams throughout the nation have talent, but only a select few have team chemistry, the bond needed that transforms a good team into a great one. This group of Mountaineers mixed strong veteran leadership with youthful energy into a formula that truly jelled. An 11 - 1 record was a great achievement for these Mountaineers, who worked hard, sweated, cried, laughed, and celebrated together. They overcame huge obstacles and enjoyed success as a team. No one can underestimate the power of togetherness. The national experts did not expect much, but the 2005 Mountaineers delivered a BIG EAST championship, a BCS bowl berth and one of the best seasons in school history.
