Daikon RadishPress to translate Listing Translator by Hindi Portuguese Thai Korean French Chinese Spanish Arabic Japanese German Russian Italian Passiflora edulis flavicarpa is a vigorous vine, especially in the Tropics, the passion fruit can grow over 20 feet in a single year. It may be grown as a houseplant in a sunny South-facing window. The white sepals and petals are almost completely covered with its undulating corona. The center of the corona is a very dark purple. Flowering occurs from April-November but may occasionally continue year-round if conditions are right. The flowers are followed by green fruit, turning Yellow when ripe. It is one of the most tropical of the passionfruit varieties, and a major commercial crop used in fruit juices. The flavor of its fruit is more tart and stronger than that of its closest relative Passiflora edulis. Evergreen leaves, deeply 3 lobed, green and bigger then Passiflora edulis. The long tendrils need lots of support for climbing. Grow in sunniest window or greenhouse and provide support of trellis. Pruning is a must to keep the vine healthy. Prune off less vigorous growth and occasionally prune back vigorous growth to promote flowering. When established, and without care, the passion fruit can easily overtake other garden plants, shading them from sun. Hardiness zone 10, (1°C/35°F) in Winter. It has only mild hardiness, surviving temperatures to 35°F, so protect from any frosts. Provide ideally a temperature of 15°- 28°C in Summer and 13-18°C through the Winter. It will do best in a loam based mix with a little peat moss. Passion flowers like full sun and will scramble over trees and shrubs to get it. You may need to water your plants on a daily basis during the hottest Summer months. During the Winter the roots should be kept moist, but as growth will be much slower you will probably only need to water once a week, depending on growing temperature. Fert Exported By ExportYourStore
